Platform Architecture
A modular, cloud-native infrastructure designed to power Africa's connected healthcare ecosystem at national scale.
Built for scale. Designed for resilience.
MedLync's platform is a layered, microservices-based architecture deployed across multi-region cloud infrastructure. Every component is independently scalable, fault-tolerant, and designed to meet the demands of a national health system serving hundreds of millions of people.
From edge nodes at rural clinics to core processing in Tier-4 data centres, MedLync abstracts infrastructure complexity so providers can focus entirely on care delivery.
How the platform is structured
Edge Layer
Lightweight edge nodes deployed at clinics and hospitals handle local caching, offline-first operations, and real-time sync when connectivity is restored.
API Gateway
A unified, versioned API gateway handles authentication, rate limiting, traffic routing, and observability for all platform services.
Microservices Core
Each MedLync product (ID, Exchange, Rx, Emergency) runs as an independently deployable service with its own data store and contract.
Data Platform
A FHIR-compliant health data lake with real-time streaming, event sourcing, and analytics pipelines built on top of structured clinical data.
Security Fabric
End-to-end encryption, zero-trust networking, hardware security modules (HSMs), and continuous compliance checks baked into every service.
Observability Stack
Distributed tracing, metrics, and structured logging across every service — giving operations teams full visibility into platform health at all times.
Engineering decisions that matter
Offline-First
Health delivery doesn't stop when the internet does. Every client is designed to function offline and sync seamlessly on reconnect.
FHIR-Native
All clinical data is modelled on HL7 FHIR R4, enabling interoperability with any standards-compliant system globally.
Open Standards
Built on open protocols — OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, HL7, DICOM — so MedLync integrates with what you already have.
Compliance by Design
NDPR, HIPAA, and ISO 27001 compliance requirements are enforced at the infrastructure level, not bolted on after the fact.
